When I first started building my side business I thought Mailchimp was the email marketing platform everyone was using. Plus the smiling chimpanzee head was the thing I saw at the bottom of most emails I was signed up to and not really knowing what the frack I was doin I chose Mailchimp.
First impression was: confusion.
It isn’t a place you can start working from right away without having to look up and watch a few tutorials on YouTube. When it came to designing, it didn’t really give me a lot of templates that really appealed to me. Even with their new “Creative Assistant” that generates designs by adding your website address I was underwhelmed.
Mailchimp also didn’t motivate me to send out regular newsletters and for almost a year I didn’t bother trying to grow my email list. I wanted something far more simple to use…hello, Flodesk!
First impression of Flodesk: relief.
It’s minimal style, which is what I absolutely love! Easy to navigate from the top menu toolbar: Emails, Forms, Workflows, Audience. Most of all it comes with beautifully thought out templates that you’re able to customise to your unique style. Oh, let’s not forget it, it is so user friendly and if you get stuck simply go to ‘Get Help’ and there you will find your answer.
Flodesk is currently in Beta and so they are running an awesome special, you can get 50% off their monthly price and even try it for free for 30 days.
Without further ado, below are 5 reasons why I made the switch to Flodesk with Mailchimp.
1. One monthly price, unlimited subscribers: Unlike Mailchimp I will not have to worry about Flodesk penalising me for growing my list. Making it perfect for those looking to start a small newsletter or build an email marketing empire, you pay the same monthly price.
2. Creative freedom: what I love is Flodesk allows you to use custom fonts and image collages making it easy for you to add your own unique style. Something Mailchimp does do is add your Instagram account feed, while Flodesk can!
3. Click and Drag Email Builder: Flodesk makes it so, SO easy to create professional-looking marketing emails by simply click and drag with their email builder and you don’t need to know any coding at all.
4. Templates designed to convert: Flodesk has a library of gorgeous templates to help you welcome, nurture, and convert subscribers into customers. Built-in partnership with other successful entrepreneurs, each template is designed to help you up to your email game. Oh, and customizing them is simple. A few clicks and the templates transform to match your brand’s unique look and feel – that’s it!
5. No more tag confusion:
One thing I couldn’t get my head around in Mailchimp was their analytics, well, actually any analytics is confusing to me, but
Flodesk does all of the tagging! You can see which of your subscribers are most engaged, what they signed up for, what they clicked on, there’s tons of data automatically captured for you. And you have full segmentation capabilities!
I hope this was helpful, let me know in the comments if you’re a Flodesk lover already or you are new to it.
